Announcing Marginalian Editions
We’re delighted to announce the launch of Marginalian Editions — a collaboration between McNally Jackson Books and Maria Popova, the visionary writer and creator of The Marginalian (born under the name Brain Pickings).
For nearly twenty years, Maria has been unearthing lost treasures of insight, creativity, and wonder, and sharing them with an ever-growing universe of readers eager to find meaning in a chaotic world. Now, through Marginalian Editions, she is bringing three of those lost masterworks back into print each year, each one a beautifully produced hardcover bearing a new introduction by Maria herself.
Ranging across science and philosophy, poetry and children’s literature, every work in the imprint offers what Maria calls “an act of resistance to the erasures of culture and a loving corrective for the collective selective memory called history.”
You can read more from Maria’s announcement here, and learn about the imprint here.
We invite you to explore the first three titles arriving this spring and summer:
We hope you’ll join us in celebrating these extraordinary works and the launch of this exciting new imprint!
Marginalian Editions is a collaboration between Sarah McNally of McNally Jackson Books and writer Maria Popova, who selects and introduces forgotten masterworks that deserve a second life—uncommon books at the intersection of wonder and our search for meaning, from science and philosophy to poetry and children’s literature. Foreword by Maria Popova
Marginalian Editions presents a groundbreaking poet’s biography of the forgotten scientist who founded physical chemistry, shaping much of the 20th century—and an ingenious, expansive treatise on American creativity, character, and remembrance.
